Innisfil Puts The Freeze On Some Shoreline Development

The Town of Innisfil is putting a freeze on some proposed developments along its shoreline - in an effort to better protect the shoreline environment.  The town has committed to undertake a shoreline management study - and so in order to allow it to continue that study - it has enacted an interim control by-law by restricting new shoreline development until the study is completed.  There are approximately 27 vacant shoreline properties that are affected.  Residents can contact the town directly to find out if their property is among those.  Some accessory structures such as sheds and boathouses can still be constructed.  And if there is a building permit already submitted the interim by-law will not apply.  The freeze will be in effect for up to one year.  Or it may be extended depending on what the study reveals.  For more information, please visit the town's website at www.innisfil.ca.
