The month of May has set a new record for home sales in the Barrie area! Sales were up by nearly 8% within the City of Barrie - and up by more than 24% in surrounding areas. The numbers seem to prove that the "Greater Golden Horseshoe" region is indeed a hot commodity! The year-to-date average price for all homes across the area serviced by the Barrie & District real estate board also saw an increase in May - up by almost 10% - at $375,810. Still a bargain when you consider homes in Toronto are averaging nearly a million dollars, according to news reports. And although active listings are at a record low, more than a thousand properties came on the market in May - giving buyers lots more to choose from. And so with interest rates also at near record lows, buyers have a great opportunity to get into the market. Happy buying and selling!
