Preserving Innisfil's History

No matter where you go in Innisfil, you are sure to pass by a piece of the past.  An old school house.  A beautiful Victorian style farmhouse.  Even a main street that heralds back to the horse drawn carriage era.  And now the Town of Innisfil is going to commemorate those historical areas with new heritage markers that will begin appearing this year.  They will show the locations of communities that were once bustling.  Like Craigvale, at the corners of the 20th Sideroad and the 10th Line.  All that remains is a school house.  But there was once a post office, general store, blacksmith, hotel, and more.  There are other heritage areas that still remain too.  You can see the old buildings in Belle Ewart, Lefroy, Stroud, and Cookstown.  You can almost imagine the clip clopping of horse drawn wagons during their hay days in the 19th century.  So start looking for those commemorative markers beginning this year - as they serve to both salute and preserve Innisfil's rich history!
