The numbers are out for September 2015 - and the Barrie & District Association of Realtors says they are UP! The number of homes sold across the Board was up nearly 2% - and that set a new record for the month of September. So far this year, there have been 4,247 homes sold in the first three quarters of 2015 - an increase of almost 10% from 2014 - and the best start to any year on record. President Bruce Shipley says "September marked the fifth new monthly record in the past six months for home sales in the region. Supply remains at the lowest levels in more than a decade, and the combination of lower supply and very strong demand is keeping the average sale price on track to post its biggest annual gain in a decade." The year-to-date average price for all homes sold through the Board was $370,410 - an increase of 9% over the same period last year. The biggest gains were in Springwater Township - where the average price to the end of September was $528,086 - an increase of 22% over the same time period last year. The only decrease was found in the condominium market in Barrie where the year-to-date average sales price was $226,373 - a decrease of 1% over the same period last year. With interest rates still at extremely low levels - it's a great opportunity for both buyers and sellers as we head into a busy Fall market. Happy buying and selling!
