Eligibility Requirements for Obtaining a Real Estate License in Ontario

In order to practice real estate in Ontario you must be licensed by the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO). In order to apply for a real estate license you must have completed the mandatory licensing education program offered through the Ontario Real Estate Association (OREA).

The OREA Real Estate College has been registered by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities and is now operating as a Private Career College under the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005.

This means that individuals who wish to be enrolled in the Salesperson Registration Education Program must meet the following ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

Have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent

Be at least 18 years of age, complete the Canadian Adult Achievement Test Level D and attain results reflecting a grade equivalence of at least 12.9 (completion of high school)

Students who enrolled in Real Estate as a Professional Career (formerly Phase 1/Course 1) within 18 months prior to March 25, 2010 are not subject to admission requirements.

To begin the process of getting a real estate license you must first complete the education process:

•Register with OREA (The Ontario Real Estate Association) at www.oreacollege.com and sign up for the real estate licensing program and complete Courses 1, 2, and 3 within 18 months (from start to finish)
