Darryl Boyce Signs With Maple Leafs

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Thursday that the hockey club has signed forward Darryl Boyce to a one year contract.

Boyce, 27, played in 46 games for the Maple Leafs in 2010-11 and collected five goals and eight assists with 33 penalty minutes. His plus/minus mark (+8) was second on the team. He was an ‘even or plus’ in 36 of the 46 games played this past season.

The native of Summerside, P.E.I. appeared in 35 games for the Toronto Marlies (AHL) in 2010-11 and recorded six goals and 10 assists to goal along with +7 rating. He was recalled from the Marlies on December 30 and completed the season with the Maple Leafs. His first career NHL goal was scored on the road against Ottawa’s Mike Brodeur on January 1 and he earned a career-high three assists and a +3 mark in a win on February 8 against the New York Islanders. His goal on March 3 was the game-winner at Philadelphia.

Boyce was originally signed by the Maple Leafs as an unrestricted free agent on January 1, 2008.
