I have lived in the Slocan and Arrow Lakes area for most of my life. I understand the culture and am a strong advocate of this region. I have worked in real estate before and understand the needs of buyers and sellers. I am known for my personal and business integrity. I am a team player and a proficient mediator which makes me a valuable asset to both sellers and buyers. You can be assured that you will receive diligent, timely service from me. I care about you and your needs.
I will be working out of the Nakusp area for Century 21 Mountainview Real Estate based in Castlegar. You can email me at: shirley@century21nakusp.com
Initially I was a stay at home mom, but upon moving to Nakusp, having my two children in school I undertook the volunteer position to start a Meals on Wheels program for our local seniors. After many volunteer hours and developing what is today the Arrow and Slocan Lakes Community Services I was it's first administrator and help that position for over 12 years.
From there I was co partner in Spectrum Domestic Services, a proprietorship that did painting, cleaning and janitoral work. This successful business was then incorporated under Spectrum Synergy Inc. providing home and family support as well as a commercial cleaning service. I am it's sole shareholder at present.
I presently own and manufacture Pleasure Spa Soy Candles which I wholesale to retail outlets.
My experience as a business owner has well prepared me for my position as a realtor with Century21 Mountainview Realty. I have many contacts and find one of my life purposes is bringing people together. This well suits realty which brings buyers and sellers to satisfactory closings of their property transactions.
As well as my work related interests my passion is in healing. I am a Healing Pathway practitioner and have courses in Healing Touch International and Reiki. Other related courses in the healing modalities include, medical intuitive, working with energy both from an anatomical aspect and spiritual one, cranial sacral therapy, working with fears, meditation and numerous others.
I have lived in the West Kootenays most of my life. Home grown so to speak. My family moved to the Slocan Valley in 1904 and homesteaded on what is still the Kosiancic farm My dad had a sawmill which supported the family. He was an original selective logger, long before it was kosher. In his senior years he sold firewood from his land. It was always left like a park. I feel very fortunate to have had the childhood I had. It gave me a great work ethic and a quiet compassion for people less fortunate. I am very close to nature.
Time is always a problem when it comes to my personal interests. I do enjoy skiing (we have a great family hill here in Nakusp, the Summit Lake Ski Hill), quilting, painting (just getting started on acrilycs.) and spending time with family and friends.
Travel is a must and I and hope to be able to experience the cultures in Africa, particularly Kenya, Australia/New Zealand, Italy, Spain, France and Great Britian. Russia also holds a facination for me. I have often thought of doing volunteer work in some of these places as my healing touch experience could be used to great advantage.
I have been very involed in health related aspects of this communty.
Education has always been important to me. In Real Estate I attend most all the course provided by the BC Real Estate Association through UBC and the Sauder Institute. These courses include:
Over the years I have taken many courses in administration and running a business.
