Valentine's day is around the corner, and all thoughts go to love and romance! But where are the most romantic places in Canada?
For those living in the Greater Toronto Area, you all know how romantic Niagara on the Lake is. My husband and I love going down for a weekend for some great theatre, amazing wine and strolling the romantic streets and parks. But can it really beat.....Newfoundland?
That's right, I said Newfoundland! This has got to be the most romantic province in Canada! With places like Heart's Desire, Heart's Content and Heart's Delight, Valentine's Day would be celebrated year round! And we can't forget Cupids. Did you know that Cupids, Newfoundland was the first English colony in Canada? In 2010 it turned 400 years old....but it's still young at heart!
Have you ever been in Love....Saskatchewan that is? According to Reader's Digest, although the population is only approximately 100, it is the most popular places on the planet come Valentine's Day. Letters galore arrive in time for Valentine's day in order to get the much prized Love Saskatchewan post mark; a teddy bear holding a heart.
Did you know that according to Amazon.ca, the most romantic town in Canada is Kingston Ontario? This is based on sales of romance novels, sex and relationship books, romantic dvd's and CD's by Michael Buble.
So where will you spend your day of romance? Looking for something new to do? Why not go ice skating? If it's a clear night bundle up, go for a walk and star gaze. Restaurant's too busy and expensive? Cook a fancy meal for you and your loved one. There's lots of things to do!
So as you enjoy this special day, remember the words of Charles Shultz, "All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt."
