Keep Your Attitude Positive

Keep Your Attitude Positive Even When it’s a Challenge

People can smell your positive attitude from a mile away. And that means that People can also smell your pessimism and negative attitude from a mile away. If you want to make a great impression and develop a strong relationship with others, you need to develop some strategies for maintaining a positive attitude, even when things aren’t going well.

Keep your brain clean!

Don’t spend an inordinate amount of time reading the latest news reports about plane crashes, natural disasters, and car accidents. The only thing it will do is get you depressed.

Watch your reserves; don’t try to run on empty

If you’re tired from a long night, or you’ve been on the phone all day, it’s going to be a lot harder for you to stay positive. Pay attention to how you’re feeling and take a break when you need one. You can take a quick break to read a positive story, or get outside and enjoy the sunshine. Socialize a bit with your friends. Go play with an adorable puppy. Whatever works for you.

Study yourself

Pay attention to what kinds of activities get you upbeat and positive. If you feel better when you listen to some ridiculously loud music on the way to work, do it! If your days always go better when you have breakfast, or don’t have breakfast, or hurry through the morning, or take it slow in the morning, pay attention to that, and do what works for you.

Get moving

Not just regular exercise, although regular exercise is almost always going to help you feel better. If you’re flagging or feeling a bit down, take a few minutes in the middle of the day to move around. Walk around the block, do a few stretches, or five minutes of yoga. Make a whole exercise routine that you can do throughout the day, in five-minute chunks. Your energy will stay higher all day, plus think of all the benefits of exercise!

Treat yourself sometimes

Just little treats, whether that’s a piece of fancy chocolate when you reach an accomplishment, or a nice dinner out at the end of a long day when you need to unwind. But it will really help your attitude if you give yourself these little moments of luxury.
