Fort Rouge is located in the south-central part of the city, it is bounded on the north by the Assiniboine River, on the east and south by the Red River. This area was built around 1900, and has a population density double the city’s average. Fort Rouge includes neighbourhood's Crescentwood (see page), Lord Roberts (see page), Corydon Village, and Osborne Village.

To the north, on the Assiniboine and Red River, you can ice skate in the wintertime. The neighbourhood is also home to the Winnipeg Winter Club and the Winnipeg Squash & Racquet Club. Grant Park has a movie theatre multiplex, and beside the mall is Grant Park, which is home to the Pan Am Pool and Athletic Grounds, as well as the Aquatic Hall of Fame Museum.
