I have been working in the Real Estate business for over 40 years. I started as an Administrative Secretary for a Developer and managed 14 Branch offices in Ontario. From there I got my real estate licence and specialized in Commercial Real Estate in Burlington. I was responsible for opening the Burlington office for J.J. Barnicke and focused on Land Sales and Office Buildings. During this time I purchased a condo in Thornbury Ontario and enjoyed the lifestyle of skiing every weekend and of course all the summer activities that this area has to offer. I enjoyed it so much I retired from commercial real estate and moved full time to Thornbury where I have been selling residential real estate for Century 21 for the past 16 years.
My first love is the outdoors and as a young girl preferred sports to doing anything in the house. My love for skiing brought me to the Collingwood area, where I could also do all my other sports, tennis, golf, hiking, kayaking, pickelball and virtually anything active outdoors.
I was born and raised in the big city of Toronto. At the age of 15 my father was transferred to a small town called Simcoe. Of course I thought that was the end of my life, only to learn that when you move to a small town, everyone welcomes you. So within a short time I realized that life in a small town wasn't so bad. I then finished school and married and moved to Burlington a smaller city and after 30 years there realized I wanted to get back to small town living, hence the move to Thornbury. Only one regret, that I didn't do it sooner.
I have stayed focused in The Blue Moutains, Thornbury, Collingwood, Meaford, Grey Highlands area in residential real estate. Rather than focus on one section of the business, I focus on my clients needs, whether it be condos, waterfront, high end properties, in town homes or vacant land for building their dream home.
During my 16 years in Real Estate in the Georgian Triangle area, I have enjoyed meeting many new people and helping them make their transition to this area. So many of my clients have done exactly what I did. Buy a weekend place and then finally realize you want to be here full time. I enjoy the challenge of finding the right place for my clients and having fun doing it. So many of my clients have become friends and helping them get involved in the community has been very rewarding. Doing something different everyday is so exciting.
The Buyer's market trend initiated in the Fall of 2008 continues to be significant as the sales to listing ratio December YTD 2011 is 35%. Meaning: supply is significantly ahead of demand, and therfore a great time to purchase if you are thinking of doing so. So don't delay further.....now's the time to jump in!
Reasons to purchase at this time:
1) financing is still relatively inexpensive;
2) there is a good supply of product across all price point ranges;
3) prices are down due to supply.
If you are thinking of purchasing a home it might be prudent to do it sooner than later as these stars will not stay aligned forever!
I was very involved in fundraising for the new YMCA in Burlington and worked for years on their committee. I have been involved with the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, Hospice and plan to be a full time volunteer for Hospice when I retire. I support all the various hikes/walks in the area for Cancer, Hospice, the Collingwood Hospital, etc.
I graduated from grade 13 High School and took a one year Special Commercial Course and then started working.
