What’s the process, and when should you get started? It starts with contacting a REALTOR® to learn about your local market, but the timing can vary depending on when you want to move. If you have a house to sell, I advise clients to consider approximately 90 days to properly market the property, and then add 60 days to close, depending on what will be negotiated with the Buyer.
If you are a first time home buyer, there are some great incentives to help you get into a home that you will want to take advantage of. Depending on personal preference, balanced by your actual needs, you could get into a home in as little as 60 days on the short side or up to a year and half if you are looking at new construction.
In either case, get in touch with your REALTOR®, learn about your many different options and make 2011 the year to open some new doors in your life.
