Featured Heritage Home...........................830 Lorne Avenue

This uniquely designed home was built in 1906. The home’s most prominent feature is its gambrel roof, adorned with hipped dormers, heavy bargeboard trim, brackets, and wide eaves. The design boasts an open porch, canted bay window, and columns. The original owner was James Frederick Kilgour. Kilgour was a barrister, of the partnership Philip & Kilgour. He lived here for three years. From 1913 to 1924, the house was occupied by Patrick Angus Kennedy. Kennedy was a pharmacist and the proprietor of Kennedy’s Pharmacy, and of P.A. Kennedy Music Co. Ltd. He later moved to 714 Lorne Avenue. The house was also owned by tailor Ernest W. Jacobs for a number of years.
