How did I happen upon Pheasant Ridge Studio as my first local business to highlight for my blog? Well, it came from my night at the Rideau Vista P.S. silent auction where there were many great donations from many area businesses and we spent lots of time chit chatting to friends that were there for the night out. On my tour of the available items I was stopped cold by two pieces of art that were up for bidding and fantastically surprised that they were done by someone I knew quite well. I knew her, knew she painted, but did not realize that her work was so incredible! What I liked the most was that to be honest I am not always a fan of watercolours, sometimes too light for my personal taste, but what I saw that night brought a whole new appreciation of both the art and artist.
On visiting Barb at Pheasant Ridge Studio it was great to see the versatility in her watercolours that ranged from bright stunning florals to groupings of local farm scenes and area buildings of interest. Barb participates in local art tours from the Fall Colours Studio Tour, The Spring Dandelion Tour to the ever famous Rideau Valley Art Festival. She also teaches watercolour classes from her studio and by the looks of some of her students work I actually thought there might be hope for someone like me who is "art challenged". Barb has studied extensively in places like Ottawa, Halifax, Paris, Washington and locally as well. Barb specializes in pen and ink and watercolour with an emphasis on architecture and includes landscapes, florals and sometimes whimsical pieces in her repertoire. Barb will also do commissions of your favourite home, cottage or building! Her studio is open by appointment or by chance! Barb can be reached by phone - 613-273-8177 or by email - email@example.com .
Thank you Barb for inviting me out to see your beautiful work and studio and for allowing me to Blog you! I highly encourage those of you who would like to see Barb's work to contact her at the above info. Stay tuned for other area businesses!
