We all know that nothing says “my Halloween is ruined” quite like a good winter storm watch. With "Frankenstorm" on the horizon for the area, here are some tips to help you brave the elements.
Dress accordingly - I know it is hard to beef up a princess outfit, but skin colour leggings or "cut out felt princess high heels" over their warm winter boots, can make for a much happier Halloween! Capes for costumes can be made from heavier material to "blanket" your child (or superhero) and keep them sheltered from the rain, snow and wind!
Take a warm thermos - Perhaps some hot chocolate or warm apple cider in a thermos will help you and your little ones between houses! A sip of warmth will do the trick and it won't slow them down from getting "the most candy possible"!
Stick to homes close together - Holgate Street is a nice street to do this (not being bias at all), and has such a mix of everything a "trick or treater" could ever want! You have your old "REAL" spooky houses, with the ever popular townhomes just down the street to ensure a full Halloween bag in minutes flat, and two apartment complexes that invite the children into the lobby, with parental supervision of course, where the kids get tons of candy and a chance for everyone to warm up a bit before heading back out!
Have fun - This is the most important one by far! Enjoy these years with your little ones! They go by faster than a witch flying to a broom sale!
Have a safe and happy Halloween!
