Halifax Regional Municipality is the capital of the province of Nova Scotia, Canada. The municipality is commonly called Halifax  or HRM.

The population of Halifax in 2010 was 403,188 giving the municipality the largest urban area in Atlantic Canada and largest population centre in Canada east of Quebec City.

Halifax serves as the business, banking, government and cultural centre for the Maritime region. The municipality has a growing concentration of manufacturing industries and is becoming a major multi-modal transportation hub through growth at the port, the Halifax Stanfield International Airport, and improving rail and highway connections.

Within  HRM, the  two container terminals located in the south and north ends of the city provide employment and economic benefits through the thousands of containers they handle daily.
