One of the best ways to know what’s going on in your community is to keep in touch with the business associations. Here in Kelowna, the Uptown Rutland Business Association (URBA) consistently provides updates for the community of Rutland and surrounding areas. Today, I received an email from URBA advising they have introduced a brand new version of their online newsletter called “URBA UPDATES”. This new regular publication will keep the community in touch with news and developments relating to the Rutland area. They continue to share tips and ideas for businesses, help promote events and provide interesting and enjoyable information.
URBA attached in their email an RCMP: Guide on when to call brochure that I have attached here as well and can be printed out and put on your fridge or posted in a common area providing quick and easy information when necessary.
After reading their email and logging on to http://www.uptownrutland.com I also received information that I was unaware of such as:
- Highway 33 Resurfacing and Pedestrian improvements that will take place with a targeted completion date by late fall 2013;
- City of Kelowna Quick Activity and Program Guide; and
- The Rutland Transit Improvements are the beginning of the revitalization of Rutland’s Town Centre. A new pedestrian walkway and transit amenities will accommodate future enhanced transit service with linkages to BC Transit’s RapidBus service.
Receiving these emails and updates from URBA on a consistent basis seems to remind me all the time the sense of community Rutland truly has and that Rutland is a healthy and positive community. As URBA says…”where the roots run deep…… and the future is all about growth"
