I am what they call an Army Brat and proud of it. There was a time, however, when I wasn't so proud. I allowed the actions and words of others to belittle my Dad and our lives. Over the years I have taken little trips down memory lane and remembered by Dad as he stood in his uniform so tall and proud. I have also had the opportunity to speak with members of our military - someone just enlisting, "I want to grow up and I will here". A soldier going back over for a second tour of duty, " We would rather be over there than have them (terrorists)over here". An aged Veteran who told me, "We did what had to be done to keep our families safe".
As many will take this Wednesday as an opportunity to hit the malls, watch movies and have a 'holiday', please STOP..... take a minute at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month and be silent to give thanks to those who have kept us safe and continue to keep us safe and pray that one day all the guns will be silent.
