FRIDAY - Oakville Firefighters Calendar Launch Paw-ty
The Oakville firefighters appearing in the 2014 charity calendar are hosting a lunch party on Friday Oct. 4. The Calendar Release Paw-ty will be at the 707 Galaxy Banquet Hall, 475 North Service Rd.E, at 8:00pm.
Each month features a firefighter and a future Dog Guide and the calendar raises funds for the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides, Oakville Hospital Foundation, Ian Anderson House Foundation and the Ontario Professional Fire Fighters Association sponsorship fund. Last years calendar raised appoximately $61,000.
The party will feature entertainment by Oakville singer, actor, and comedian Dave La Fame, who picked up first place male entertainer and third place overall at the 2012 Las Vegas Celebrity Impersonators Convention.
Tickets cost $35 per person and includes a signed calendar. Tables of 10 cost $350. Tickets to the event, for those aged 19 or older, are available by emailing Oakville_firefighters_calendar@hotmail.ca or calling 905-464-6663

SATURDAY - The Halton Wing Festival
Halton is getting a new festival for its wing-lovers! The Halton Wing Festival, set for Saturday Oct.5, will feature local vendors bringing their products to the judges table in hopes of winning the People's Choice Best Wing in Halton award.
The entry fee for the festival is $35 and includes all-you-can-eat wings, while quantities last. All proceeds will go to the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society of Canada's Halton Regional Chapter. In addition to the wings, there will also be live entertainment by Fire When Ready.
Milton's Country Heritage Park, 8560 Tremaine Rd. will play host to the festival which starts at 5:30pm. Tickets are available in advance online by visiting www.haltonwingfestival.com.
