Oakville Clean Sweep

The month of April brings so many things; Income Taxes, Easter, Practical Jokes and Earth Day. With Spring weather hopefully just around the corner, it's easier to appreciate the value of caring for our planet and environment. That's why the Town of Oakville encourages the entire community to take part in different events around the town geared towards cleaning up, organizing and beautifying the lovely Town of Oakville. Check out the information below, found at www.Oakville.ca, to see where you and your family can get involved in the various Earth Week events.

Join in on Oakville Clean Sweep, Friday, April 19, or take part in the town-wide Earth Week clean up on Saturday, April 20, 2013.

The Town of Oakville is kicking off Earth Week with our Oakville Clean Sweep, an initiative to encourage all residents to get out and clean up litter around our schools, businesses, homes and public spaces for 20 minutes. When we work together, 20 minutes is all it takes to make a more beautiful Oakville. Get your coworker, fellow students, friends and family to go outside and clean up on Friday, April 19 at 2 p.m. and make a difference in our community.

After the clean up

After the cleanup, please let us know how many large bags of garbage you collected. Email us at cleansweep@oakville.ca. Open the participation certificate (pdf, 43 kB) and let everyone know that you are helping keep Oakville beautiful.

What do I do with my bags of garbage?

Please put out your garbage bags on your regular garbage collection day, and recycle what you can. If you think you’ll collect more than the free three bag limit, please pick up complimentary garbage bag tags from community centres. If you think you’ll have more than the six allowed garbage bags, please email serviceoakville@oakville.ca or call 905-845-6601 to make arrangements for garbage pickup.

Community Cleanup day – April 20, 2013

In addition, get your family and friends together on Saturday, April 21 for a town-wide clean up hosted by the Oakville Community Centre for Peace, Ecology and Human Rights (OCCPEH). Over 25 nature sites are already designated as clean-up locations! Join in on an organized clean up or simply clean up around your neighbourhood. To register or for more information on clean-up site locations, contact OCCPEH at 905-849-5501, info@oakvillepeacecentre.org or visit the OCCPEH website.
