This holiday weekend is the official end-of-summer extravaganza. Three days at the beginning of September that is annually marked with backyard barbeques, fireworks displays, final trips to the cottage and enthusiastic attempts to squeeze every last drop of summer out of the season. This is the last couple of days of freedom before we are reluctantly thrust into the fall schedule; kids go back to school, extra curricular activities start up, boats and pools go into storage and we brace ourselves for the falling leaves and polar vortex temperatures.
On the upside, one of the great things about schedules getting back on track, is that anyone who has been considering a change of home-ownership will begin thinking about it more now. No more procrastinating or fretting about whether a listing will generate enough interest with so many people away on vacation. Potential buyers realize that after a summer of relaxing, September is the perfect time to get back to house hunting. For homeowners looking to sell, a summer of landscaping and completing all those pending DIY projects, pays off as they can sit back and await purchase offers to reward their hard work and pride of ownership.
September brings with it a fresh start, and there's no better time to take home-ownership seriously. So if you are thinking of buying a house sometime this fall, spend this weekend charging your batteries. Take the next two days to enjoy the last moments of summer stillness; eat some hamburgers, go for another swim and kick back on the patio. Prepare yourself because in the next few weeks, the real estate market will kick into a higher gear. There will be a lot of homes on the market as sellers try to get ahead of the game and buyers just like yourself will be “kicking the tires” on houses in your neighbourhood.
But don't get stressed, The Hisey-McDermott Team is here to help you out, just give us a call and get us on your team. It's been a great summer, and this Autumn will be the best season yet as you find the house of your dreams.
