Hisey-McDermott to host BBQ to Support Gladys Speers Public School’s Project Playground this Saturday
This Saturday at Sobey’s in Bronte, Heather Hisey & Lezlie McDermott from Century 21 Miller Real Estate, will be hosting a fundraiser barbeque for Gladys Speers Public School’s Project Playground.
This team along with many generous donators will be raising funds to purchase a new playground for the students and local community. The current playground is over 20 years old and in dire need of replacement. In fact, in recent months sections have had to be removed due to safety concerns. Approximately $50,000 is needed to purchase and install a new playground and a number of dedicated parents are working hard to make this happen. “School playgrounds are so important. My family plays here everyday,” says Lezlie McDermott, “it is a gathering place for the community and a chance for parents to get to know each other while the children have fun.”
Heather and Lezlie are local realtors who understand the importance of having a community school reflect the needs of neighbourhood. As parents and active community supporters they want to do their part by hosting the barbeque that hopes to raise $2000 for project playground. Lezlie graduated from Gladys Speers and all 3 of her children will attend Gladys Speers making this project especially close to home for her. “Not only is the playground used by its students but also by the local community. If every person who went to Gladys Speers or who had a child or grandchild attend the school came to the barbeque and had a hot dog we can reach our goal. We need all the support we can get to make this happen” says Lezlie.
Please come out and enjoy a hot dog or hamburger and receive a free recyclable grocery bag to thank you for your support on Saturday, October 24th from 11am to 2pm at the Bronte Sobey’s 2441 Lakeshore Road West.
