As our small town of Milton, Ontario continues to grow, we're seeing more pet friendly establishments and amenities pop up all over. With the spring weather upon us, I'm starting to see more fellow dog owners out-and-about enjoying the warm weather with their furry friends.
I'll share with you a few pet-friendly places that Carter, my 3 year-old German Sheppard, has become fond of.
1. Mutt Life
The DIY Dog Wash is to die for! Jason and Stacey are very welcoming, wonderful with dogs and offer DIY dog cleaning services that leave your dog's coat -- and your bathroom at home -- glistening. They've established quite the following on social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook, where you will find pictures of pups in the bath and more information about in-store specials and events. We make frequent stops here for a bath and Carter's favourite treats.
2. Leash Free Dog Park
The current one is located off of 4th Line, also known as Cedar Hedge Road. The park consists of 2 acres of land with a large fenced dog park. The park has a main section occupying the majority of the space with two smaller sections; one, for dogs who don't get along well with others and another for children to play safely.
The second leash-free dog park is set to be included as part of the Willmott Neighbourhood park in Hawthorne Village On The Park (HVOTP). The park will be located at Ruhl Drive and Brassard Circle, just south of Derry Road off of Bronte Street. Development of the park is set to commence sometime in 2013.
3. Kennel Land
Carter has grown fond of Kennel Land where he makes frequent day trips to visit friends and has occasional overnight stays when his parents (my Wife and I) need to get away. Kennel Land is located in Milton, just south of Acton off of 5th Line and 25 Side Road.
A large barn has been renovated to accommodate dogs in various sized rooms with a large indoor arena for mucky days and a large outdoor fenced play ground to enjoy the sun. With various plans to accommodate any budget, this is a wonderful option to give your dog plenty of exercise and social activity.
4. Main Street Walk
Last, but not least, we love walking Carter down Main Street in Milton. There are often special events, such as the Classic Car Show and the Farmer's Market, local business owners frequently have water bowls on the path for dogs to take a quick drink and it's a wonderful way to socialize Carter with other people and pets.
