January 16-20 Saskatoon real estate market review

The Saskatoon real estate market has remained slow for 2012 which was to be expected as numbers are actually right on par with 2011 which was a very brisk year for sales. Last week there were 52 firm sales reported in Saskatoon which is 3 less than the previous week and 4 more than the same period in 2011. New listings jumped moderately last week as 96 were posted onto the local MLS which is just 7 more than the previous week. As listings eclipsed the number of sales last week, the number of total listings in Saskatoon grew to 936 (621 single family and 270 condominiums) as of January 23rd which is right on par with 2011. As 2012 sets in it should be interesting to see how things play out as things are looking quite similar to last year. The average selling price in Saskatoon last week was $305,680, however the 6 week average is currently $318,244 which is roughly $7000 more than the numbers in 2011.
