The sale of homes in Saskatoon last month was higher than November of 2009, but the number of homes sold so far this year lags behind last year's pace after 11 months.
In November, 283 homes were purchased compared to 253 homes in November 2009. That's a 12 per cent increase, according to the Saskatoon Region Association of Realtors. But between January and November, 213 fewer homes were bought compared to the same time in 2009, when 3,609 homes were purchased.
The average selling price of a home was $312,893.00 in November, or 13 per cent higher than the previous November.
"Interest rates have edged up ever so slightly but have seemingly had little impact on home sales," said a news release issued by the real estate association.
During the month of November, 403 Saskatoon homes were newly listed for sale. At the end of the month, 1,045 houses were on the market.
In areas around Saskatoon, 20 per cent more houses were listed for sale in November for a total of 154 houses compared to November 2009.
