Masonville Real Estate Listings and Information
Located in north London, the Masonville district is centred around the Masonville commercial area and Masonville Mall at Richmond St., south of Fanshawe Park Rd. The west boundary of the district is formed by the Medway Valley Heritage Forest Environmentally Significant Area, a beautiful woodland along Medway Creek filled with great walking trails.
The name "Masonville" originates as early as 1847, taken from the Mason House Tavern and Inn. Though once known for the gorgeous scenery and rural landscapes, soon a number of homes began to flourish in the area, and in 1961 the district was acquired as part of the City of London. Masonville Mall was built in 1985 and was London’s first multi-level shopping centre. Today it is surrounded by a growing number of retail developments and big box stores, with surrounding housing developing in the 1980’s. The area is characterized by large single family homes, townhomes, small apartment buildings and student housing. The smaller neighbourhoods of Sherwood Forest and Medway Heights form part of this planning district.
The district is also home to the Elsie Perrin Williams Estate, operated by the London Heritage Foundation and offers a venue for social gatherings and is the public access point to the Medway Valley trail system. Masonville Public School, located west of Richmond St., and Blessed Kateri Catholic School, to the east of Masonville mall area, are both located in this district. The Masonville Library Branch is located across from Masonville Mall.
