Picton is the largest community in Prince Edward County in southern Central Ontario and has long been known for its heritage, its charm, its architecturally-significant old buildings, and its friendly small-town atmosphere. The town is named for General Sir Thomas Picton, second in command to Wellington at the Battle of Waterloo. The arts trail features 30 sites including studios and galleries. The Taste Trail offers 32 sites, including wineries, cheese factories, gourmet restaurants, and cafés. Found locally in Picton is the exquisite Blumen Garden Bistro for fine dining out in a lovely garden, as well as the Chesterfield’s Homegrown Café for coffee and treats.


Picton is also home to The Waring House, a top notch restaurant, inn, cookery school, spa, and conference centre. You can choose between 2 distinct restaurant experiences at The Barley Room Pub or the Amelia’s Garden Restaurant. There are always live music events to be seen at The Barley Room Pub and you can relax at the Garden Spa. You can also take a simple class at the cookery school to hone your culinary skills.

Perhaps the most popular attraction near Picton is the Sandbanks Provincial Park, drawing thousands of visitors from far and near. The park offers kilometres of clean beaches, and is good for swimming, camping, fishing, boating, and hiking. The Lake on the Mountain Provincial Park is also a must see geological curiosity and great picnic spot.


You can keep yourself entertained in Picton with the multitude of events in town. There are always ongoing arts, culinary, and cultural festivals with over 35 events annually. These include the Arts and Crafts Sale, the Jazz Festival, the Picton Fair (which has been ongoing for more than 175 years), the Prince Edward County Music Festival, TASTE! A celebration of regional cuisine, ARTrageous, and the Santa Claus Parade.
