Winnipeg... Not just a cheap contest for pirates

Did you know that Winnipeg's French theatre company, Le Cercle Molière, is the longest continuously running French theatre in Canada? Not to mention that the Royal Winnipeg Ballet is Canada's oldest dance company as well as being one of the oldest in North America as a whole; the Queen of England granted it the title "royal" in 1953, the first to be distinguished as such in the world. Another achievement of note, Winnipeggers have been marked by Don Cherry himself as the greatest hockey fans to grace the game. Known for snow, floods, and mosquitoes, the twin-river city blows these conceptions out of the water after moving here from anywhere else in the country. Entertainment is what we do here in Winnipeg, the Guess Who are from here and ever since bands have flocked from far and wide to visit the Burton Cummings Theatre as well as our various festivals and the MTS centre. Even the river, when frozen over in the winter, becomes a perfect skating rink making the best out of what we have is what we're known for and I have to say of all the cities I've visited in Canada, I think we do it best!
