Don't Keep Your Listing a Secret

When you work with a good Realtor that person is going to have a game plan for marketing your home to the public so it can sell quickly at the best price possible. That plan will include basics such as lawn sign and a listing on the MLS, as well as other important promotional activities. However, theres a lot you can do yourself to help get the word out about your listing. After all, there are people you know that your Realtor may not know. So communicating with your personal and professional network is essential. For example, if you have a Facebook page, or are active on other social media sites, post details of your property listing. You may have a friend, who knows a friend, who's looking for a new home in your area. Another idea is to send an email to friends and family about your home listing. Invite them to forward that email to people they know who might be interested. Be sure to include the name of your Realtor and his or her contact information so that you're not left to deal with all the inquiries.

If possible, spread the word about your property listing, at  your workplace. Your co-workers may be a good source of leads and referrals. Just be sure to use common sense and follow any rules that are in place regarding dissemination of information for personal purposes. Don't forget your neigbours. It's a mistake to assume they'll notice the lawn sign and refer buyers to your property. Let them know, personally, that you're home and would appreciate having them let anyone who may be interested in your property know about your listing.

The last you want for your listing to be kept the best-kept secret amongst your friends, co-workers and neighbours. Spread the news ! A good Realtor can help you with that process. Looking for one ? Contact me today.
