This post is looking into MLS areas of 12, 13, 14, and 17 so if you’re currently looking to buy in the area, you’ll have a good reference. They are neighbourhoods similar in many common dynamics residing in Dartmouth.

The real estate market performance in the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) is broken down into segments as previously described in my post 2013 Market Trends in Halifax Nova Scotia.  Once this series is complete, various segments will be combined into one complete 5 year analysis of the HRM as a whole. This will provide an opportunity to compare performance against neighbourhoods.

are as follows:

A healthy 12% increase over 5 years.

 Average days on market for Dartmouth Nova Scotia

When compared to previous years, 2013 performed well, selling faster
than other areas in HRM. 

For selling in a buyers’ market, these
areas performed very well. There area
consists of entry level and affordable
homes making it more attainable.

Predictably, this chart shows the most
popular time to sell is the 2nd and 3rd
quarter but don't let that fool you.
Read about the answer to the aged old
question, when is the best time to sell? I was surprised by the results and
I think you will be too. 

Keep in mind that the first quarter of
2012 was unusual activity, responding
to the November 2011 announcement
of the shipbuilding contract awarded
to Halifax.
