Home Buyers' List of Most Wanted and Most UNwanted!

How to Get Homebuyers to Pay More and Not Walk Away. Most homebuyers want move-in ready. Let’s face it, cheap borrowing costs, busy lifestyles and home improvement shows make demands and raised expectations. If you’re in a slow market, you need to do your best to give them what they want if you want to sell for the most money and sell quickly.

Having insight into the minds of homebuyers of what they like and don’t like will allow you to sell with confidence. If you’re living in a home you know you’ll be selling yet it needs a little work, consider viewing your home from a buyer’s perspective when choosing updates or any work you are able to do.

The best way to approach that is to know who the majority of homebuyers will be interested in your home and think about fulfilling their needs and tastes and most importantly, avoid spending money on something that may turn them away.

Providing invaluable insight into homebuyers’ “most wants” and “most unwanted” is the latest study completed by The National Association of Home Builders recently, tracking the evolution of home buyer preferences, titled Housing Preferences of the Boomer Generation: How They Compare to Other Home Buyers.Generations

The study surveyed 4300 homebuyers across four generations:

  1.      Millennials (born 1980 or later)
  2.      Gen X’ers (born 1965-1979)
  3.      Baby Boomers (born 1946-1964)
