Carl Oake Swimathon

Carl Oake, Broker/Owner of CENTURY 21 United Realty Inc, will once again swim laps for 1 hour for the 28th Annual swimathon, being held this year on February 21, 2014.

In the past 27 years, Carl has raised over $850,000 to support local worthwhile causes such as Easter Seals, 5 Counties Children Foundation, The New Peterborough Regional Health Centre, the New YMCA, the YWCA Women’s Crossroads Shelter, The Rotary Greenway Trail to name a few.  The Peterborough Rotary Club has joined in the event a few years ago in supporting the event.

This year’s goal is to raise $50,000 through the efforts of, we hope, over 46 teams taking part in swimming for 5 minutes each and local Corporate sponsorships. We have many of our high schools, local companies, and our fire department and police department teams attending this year. Each team will consist of 4 or 5 swimmers each swimming one lap of the pool. There will be recognition awards handed out to the Top Corporate Fundraiser, Top Individual Fundraiser and the wacky/funniest dressed team.

The Rotary Club of Peterborough and the Century 21 Team work hard to ensure the day is both interesting and fun and encourages everyone who wants to get involved to register a team or send in a donation to “Rotary Carl Oake Swimathon, P. O. Box 178 Peterborough, Ontario, K9J 6Y8”.

With everyone’s help, this year’s Swimathon will be another great success!
