Spring Market.

Just read an interesting article in today's Report on Business in the Globe and Mail. Contrary to many economists, Phil Soper the C.E.O. of Royal Lepage Real Estate predicts that there will be upward pressure on Canadian Residetial prices this spring. He even predicts that in some markets that there may be a return of a " Sellers Market "
The Canadian Real Estate Association ( CREA) forecast is for an increase in sales in Ontario of 3.0% in 2014 over 2013.
This will naturally put pressure on prices, especially with a new decrease in New Home permits as predicted by many experts in CREA and Central Mortgage and Housing. I wonder when the market hits a price ceiling and it becomes more affordable or practical to rent or affordable.
In Peterborough  the rental vacancy rate has increased due to the new units built at Trent University, as well there are several new apartment buildings that have been built or are under construction. Perhaps there may be more demand for single family homes in the rental market.
I know the weather is not the best for the Real Estate business, however, if your are thinking of selling it may be the best time to list your home as with a very low inventory in the Peterborough area you will not have the competion of a large number of listings for a buyer to compare.
