A walking tour of historic sites will take you past the former residence of Col. Samuel Strickland (Reydon Manor), Catherine Parr Traill and Margaret Laurence and to the Christ Church Community Museum.

Our Victorian past is reflected in the architecture of many homes and public buildings. Once home to many canoe manufacturers including Thomas Gordon, The Brown Boat Co., The Strickland Canoe Co. and The Lakefield Canoe Co., our rich canoe heritage lives on in the works ofWalter Walker - master canoe builder.

Lakefield College School
Founded in 1879, Lakefield College School has grown from 20 students on a 15 acre site to 365 boys and girls on a campus of 155 acres on Lake Katchewanooka. The wooded campus, commonly known as "The Grove", combines the original school house and the renovated century homes with newer classrooms, residences and facilities. The natural splendor of this country setting continues to inspire an educational experience that is distinctly Canadian. The School's original philosophy of combing a rigorous academic curriculum with an enriching program of sports, arts and outdoor education is embodied in the school motto, means sane in corpore sano, a sound mind in a sound body.
