Marmora is a community in the Municipality of Marmora and Lake in Hastings County, Ontario, Canada. Today, underground streams and rainfall have filled the mine with water, so much so that it is now officially classified as a lake.Whatever the season, a variety of trails and abundant waterways provide plenty of activities. Linked by the Hastings Heritage Trail to Algonquin Park, or the rest of Canada via the Trans-Canada Trail, Marmora is a starting point for all the recreational opportunities these multi-use trails have to offer. Whether you are hiking, horseback riding, biking, cross-country skiing or exploring the area on an ATV or snowmobile, you are sure to enjoy the peace and beauty of the surroundings. You can also take advantage of the many lakes and rivers in the area that are ideal for fishing and nature lovers. The six main rivers can be explored by canoe or kayak, and include exciting rapids, drops, and turns, for people of all skill levels. In fact, the area was chosen by Kawartha WhiteWater Paddlers to host for the Marmora Area Canoe and Kayak Festival for its abundant rivers.

The Marmora and Lake Area is anything but lacking in annual events. In the wintertime, don’t miss the Sno-Fest, and enjoy dog sled races and other family activities. For music enthusiasts, there are 2 annual country music jamborees. Family events also include the Easter Egg Hunt, Canada Day Celebrations, the Celebrate Marmora culture and heritage event, Family Fun Day, the Marmora Fall Fair, the Municipal Spooktacular Halloween event, and the Santa Clause Parade.
