No matter what product you’re buying, it’s always nice to have some choice. This is particularly true when you’re talking about the home you’re going to live in. In 2015, buyers in our region enjoyed a great selection.

An influx of inventory right at the beginning of the year set the pace and throughout the year, buyers explored a larger selection of homes than they had in recent years. By the end of 2015 there were 5,088 residential properties listed on the MLS system, up dramatically from the 3,059 properties available at the end of 2014.

Of course, availability will differ in every price range. Homes in the very popular $400,000 price range were still quite limited by year end, compared to some of the other offerings. Duplex and townhouse sales were high year round, fueled by availability and attractive prices for first time buyers.

As we enter the year with strong inventories and projections call for fewer sales over the course of the year, there’s reason to believe buyers will continue to enjoy a healthy selection. The advice of a REALTOR® will be instrumental in helping you narrow your options down to the ones that fit your life best, while sellers will need the expertise of a REALTOR® to make their property stand out.
