Smell your house

Does your house have an odor to it.

This may seem an odd thing to consider when trying to sell your home but as a Realtor this has been a factor on a house selling or not.

We love our pets but unfortunately they do have an odor.  Whether it is cat litter or the oil from your dog's fur, it gets in the furniture and carpets.  We as home owners sometimes don't realize this as a problem.

Smokers, the smell penetrates into everything and for those who are sensitive this can be a real problem.

Mold that has grown due to water damage in the house, again some people are more sensitive to the smell and have allergic reactions.

These are just a few smells that you may come across in the search for a home or that maybe in your own home.

Some ideas for cutting the smells, wash walls, floors, covers and steam clean carpets or replace them.  Repainting in some cases maybe necessary. Get a expert in for the mold to determine the damage.

These are all things to help with the sale of your home to be done more quickly and get the most for money.  Spending a few dollars before listing can help in the long run.
