Considering buying a condominium but not sure if it's the right choice for you? There are definitely pros and cons to buying either, so here's what you need to know.
The difference between home ownership vs. condo ownership is much more than a matter of yard space. It's more about lifestyle preferences and this is a decision that only you can answer for yourself.
Here are some things you should consider before making any major decisions.
- Family Size
- Age of children
If you have a large family, or young children who require more space to play, ie: large backyard. Than a condo is probably not for you.
If you prefer privacy and solitude, a condo is probably not the best choice for you either.
- Looking to downsize your home
- First time home owners
- Wanting to socialize more
If you are downsizing your home and want less responsibilities, condo living may be a good choice for you.
Also as first time home owners who aren't ready for a big commitment to yard, and property upkeep, a condo may be right for you.
If you don't mind being close to neighbours, sharing common rooms etc, then you will probably prefer a condo over a home.
Again, only you can make that final decision on what is right for you.
- Private yard space
- freedom to renovate in and out with full control
- No condo fees
- responsible for all insurance and taxes.
- Freedom to make many changes but need to adhere to condo rules
- monthly fees cover maintenance, parking, snow removal, landscaping, taxes etc.
- building security
- sometimes a maintained pool, and/or gym included.
The city of Barrie is certainly growing where condominiums are concerned. You will find a wide selection of locations, price range, amenities and more.
