Leaving Children Home Alone -- What You Need to Know Barrie

For many parents, as summer approaches we begin to consider our childcare options.  Many wonder, how old must my child be to stay home alone?

If your child is over 10 years they should take a Home Alone Course before leaving them alone.  This type of course teaches your child about strangers, telephone usage, what to do in an emergency, and some basic first aid.

For children over 12 -- they may consider taking a Babysitter's Course.  This involves more responsibility of the child, and includes more first aid, choking, emergencies etc.

When leaving kids home alone you might have concerns about internet safety.  There is a local class for just this.  It's called Stranger Danger; Internet 101 and Bullying.  This course is recommended for kids aged 7-12.

If you would like to know what age is appropriate to leave your child home alone, you can read more about this at the Children's Aid Society.

Be informed and get prepared before summer holidays.
