9th Annual Barrie Waterfront Festival,

May 24th, 25th & 26th, the 9th Annual spring line-up will present live bands from a variety of genres. For your added enjoyment, free outdoor entertainment will be brought to the table: street buskers, a midway with rides, face painting, street vendors, fresh food, treats and contests.

Barrie welcomed its new Police Chief this week Kimberley Greenwood and I for one couldn’t be more excited for this is Barrie’s first female Police Chief.

Chief Greenwood came from Toronto Police Service having over 32 years experience in policing and following in her father’s footsteps.

This is the 4^th high profile position filled by females in the past years with RVH President Janice Skot, Georgian College President Dr MaryLynn West Moynes, and Col. Tammy Harris 1^st Female commander CFB.

Exciting times for SimcoeCounty and looking forward to seeing some fantastic changes moving forward.

As the Beyonce song goes- “Who runs the world? Girls Girls!” holds true in Barrie it seems right now.

One of the best parts of my job is getting to view homes and see all the interesting & inspiring decorating ideas homeowners have. I used to always wonder where did they come up with that?

Barrie's 2013 Snowmageddon

Was this your view Barrie? Well for most of us in the Simcoe County area it was, Snowmageddon 2013 hit Thursday and it hit hard going well into Friday evening.

Spoiled by recent mild plus 12 temps this storm hit with a bang and caused cancellations all across the board. Reports of 2933 flights cancelled, and endless posts of being stranded on highways, driveways, or airports ate up the news feeds.

48 hours later still shoveling our way out in Barrie there are now reports of plus 7 on Monday and rain.

Who said living in Barrie, Ontario Canada was boring?
