Monterey Park

Monterey Park is one of Calgary’s hidden gems tucked away in the northeast quadrant of the city.  Approximately ~10,500 of Calgary’s residents call Monterey Park home, one quarter of which are between the ages of 35 and 54 (City of Calgary, 2012). The majority of homes in the Monterey Park are single-detached but a small number of semi-detached, row and apartment style homes are available for rent or purchase while quantities last (Ibid).

There are several schools located within and minutes from Monterey Park for children of all ages. These schools include but are not limited to the following: Monterey Park School (K-6), Annie Foote School (K-6), St. Thomas More (K-6), Douglas Harkness School (K-6), Pineridge School (K-6), Father Scollen (K-9), Clarence Sansom School (7-9), Blessed John XXIII (K-9), St Rose of Lima (K-9), Dr. Gladys McKelvie Egbert School (7-9), Lester B. Pearson School (10-12), Bishop McNally (10-12), Jack James High School (10-12) and Forest Lawn School (10-12) (Calgary Board of Education, 2012).

There are several plazas in and around the Monterey Park neighborhood that offer shopping of all varieties. A short drive away, residents can enjoy the retail stores downtown and along the popular 17th Avenue. Chinook Mall is also a short commute from Monterey Park and has a variety of stores that will please every member of the family.
