What’s a QR code and how does it work?
A QR code, or a Quick Response code, is a type of 2D bar code that is popping up all over the place! You have probably seen these black and white bar codes on ads, promotions or coupons for different types of businesses or products and services.
QR codes are cool because you can use your smart phone or mobile phone to scan them for direct access to digital content like information, sound, video, images or websites.
To scan a QR code, you need to have a smart phone or a mobile phone equipped with a camera and software that can read QR codes. You can get this software for free online. If you have a Blackberry, you can use Blackberry Messenger to scan and access the content that has been associated with a particular QR code. To access the content, you also need to have access to the Internet.
What can I do with QR codes in real estate?
More and more, these QR codes are being used by real estate agents to share additional content about homes and properties they have available for sale with potential buyers. This content may include information about the features of the house or property (square footage, size and number of bedrooms, number of bathrooms, nearby schools and other amenities, etc.), pictures, floor plans or directions.
So the next time you see a QR code on advertisement or brochure for a property for sale, scan it to access the content the real estate office has shared with you.
It’s quick and easy! And since the content is available even when the real estate office is closed or the real estate agent isn’t available, you can save time by scanning a QR code to learn more about your dream home!
