As a past time I enjoy spending time canoeing. This summer I spent 2 weeks canoeing the Okanagan Lakes.
Myself and 120 other members of the Voyageur Brigade Society were very exhilerated to have to opportunity to canoe in such beautiful surroundings.
Among the adventurers were children around 5 years old to the young at heart around 75, and everything in between.
We padelled for 8 days through Wood Lake, Kalamalka, Okanagan, and Skaha. The most challenging part of the journey was at the South end of the Okanagan Lake when the wind picked up drastically. We managed to verse the head winds and large waves and stay afloat.
The canoes that kept us afloat were 6-8 man Voyageur canoes that were between 25-29 feet long.
Beautiful weather was enjoyed by all and we made sure to make a few stops at the surrounding vinyards.
I believe that getting out in the wild and enjoying nature is good for us all. I appreciate the opportunity to have adventures such as this canoe trip, not only for the bragging rights but also to take the time to enjoy our beautiful country.
