Brandon has a number of beautiful golf courses in the surrounding area. a few of those are Shilo Golf and Country Club, Oak Island Golf Course, Pelican Lake Golf Course, Poplar Ridge Golf Course and of course my favorite Clear Lake Golf Course. Each course is unique in it's own way, some harder then others and some easier. All of the courses listed offer tremendous views and landscapes. The rates range from $50.00-$77.00 with a power cart. Oak Island, Poplar Ridge, Shilo, and Clear Lake all offer lessons from Certified Professionals.
Shilo Golf and Country Club has strong ties to the military base. Offering discounts to any military person. They have to most reasonable rates of the courses listed, and the shortest commute to Brandon at 25 minutes.
Poplar Ridge is the newest course of the bunch. It was built to rival the tremendously popular Clear Lake Golf Course. Originally this course was designed to be a Links course. That did not go over well with many people so they have slowly changed that. This is just passed Onanole off the #10 Highway.
Pelican Lake in my opinion is the most challenging course. Blind tee shots and tough greens. You have to be ready for a challenge when you go to Pelican Lake. This course is located on the south end of the lake. Approximately an hour south of Brandon.
Oak Lake is about 35 minutes from Brandon just off of #1 Highway. A fairly new course has had it's struggles with some flooding, but that has since been addressed. I strongly recommend taking the drive to play this course.
Clear Lake Golf Course is built in the Riding Mountain National Park. Amazing views of the lake on a number of holes. This course hosts a number of tournaments throughout the year. None bigger than the Tamarack. People come from all over to play in this tournament. This is an hours drive from Brandon straight up the #10 Highway. If you get lucky you might see some wildlife during your round!
