2) Learn the Market. When you are getting ready to buy a home, take the time to learn the market on your own. This research can take one month or six months, but if you are in a hurry, it can be done in a few weeks. You can search many of the listings online, however, your Realtor can email you direct all the current Multiple Listings.
Ask your Realtor for every listing in your price range; specify number of Bedrooms, Bathrooms, “must haves” and “would likes” as well as preferred neighborhoods. Be specific, learn as much as you can about where you want to live and figure out how much you can afford and what mortgage payment you are comfortable with.
Part of learning the market is seeing many homes and judging their quality, condition, location, size, amenities, and what styles you prefer. Many factors can play a role in your decision, such as schools districts, resale value, and proximity to services to name a few.
