Seven Month High For Canadian Housing Starts In May

It was a good month for housing starts on average across Canada with the number of starts hitting a seven month high.  This is a big rebound from the five year low monthly housing start low that we saw back in March.

A closer look at the numbers does reveal that this increase was inconsistent across the country.  Of particular interest for us in Westman is that housing starts in the Prairie provinces were actually down 15 percent from the prior month.
