Melita is a town located in the southwestern corner of the Canadian province of Manitoba. It is surrounded by the Rural Municipality of Arthur and occupies a bend of the Souris River. The population, as of the 2006 census, is 1,051. It sits at the junction of Highways 3 and 83, approx. 320 km southwest of Winnipeg. Melita is known as the "Grasslands Bird Capital of Manitoba.
Melita is a modern and progressive centre in an area producing grain, livestock, oil and mined aggregates. Tourism, recreation, health and education play an ever-increasing role in the community. The town and surrounding rural municipalities are aggressively promoting the community as an alternative location for industry in Manitoba.
The town of Melita is located in southwestern Manitoba at the intersection of Provincial Highways 3 and 83, just 33 km north of the United States border and only 37 km east of the Saskatchewan border.
