Cleaning and Decluttering Tips

Tips for Cleaning and Decluttering
  • Sort it out, be ruthless. The Keep/Donate/Toss piles that you see on every home organization show on TV really work. If the item doesn't fit, is damaged or if you haven't worn it in the last year, do not return it to the closet. If in doubt, return all hanging items to the closet with the hanger turned the wrong way. If those hangers are still turned around in 6 months, donate or toss.
  • Organize closets, storage rooms and other areas such as laundry rooms - - Keep, Toss and Donate piles
  • Remove all personal possessions
  • Remove excess furniture to give your home a spacious look
  • Declutter and Clean all kitchen and bathroom cabinets and neatly organize items on shelves
  • Remove appliances from kitchen counters to give a look of spaciousness
  • Keep bookshelves and entertainment units to a minimum amount of items
  • Clean and declutter entryway - create a great first impression for the buyer
  • Remove clutter from front and back of house
  • Make stairwells and corridors clutter free
  • Hire a professional to thoroughly clean the interior and exterior of the home
  • Clean all carpets and area rugs
