  • 65% expect demand for their product/service to grow over the next year
  • 45% expect to hire over the next 12 months

Home-based businesses are poised to grow

  • 60% report it's their primary source of income
  • 24% are interested in moving to a storefront location

89% of businesses rated Airdrie as a "good," "ver good," or "excellent" place to do business. Respondents were asked to rate their satisfaction with a number of aspects of the operating environment.

City service is good

*Range of the mean level of satisfaction for eight city departments that offer business services

The majority of businesses reported they were satisfied with City of Airdrie services. Room for improvement was noted in these areas: 1) permit & application process, 2) permit processing time and 3) information sharing.

Next steps
Airdrie Economic Development uses the survey results to improve and create programs and services for Airdrie businesses. We:

  • Share the results with City Counil, administration, business resource organizations and the business community.
  • Review and analyze the full 200+ page report and ask further questions where needed.
  • Include the feedback in our Business Development Strategy and use it to improve our programs and services.
  • Incorporate insight gained into a new Economic Development Strategy, to be presented to City Council in late 2013.
